~ History: Misato hated her father as a child, and that hatred shaped her life. She was with her father in the South Pole, when the Second Impact took place, and she was the only person to survive. Her father saved her by locking his child in a capsule and shoving it out to sea. She sat up, and watched the Second Impact kill everyone and change the world. Misato was discovered by a ship some days later. She was emotionally damaged by all this, and did not speak for two years. Afterward, she became very talkative, "...as if she was trying to make up for lost time." as Ritsuko put it. She was Kaji's lover eight years before the Angels returned, but he reminded her of her lost father, and so she broke up relations with him. She is still in love.
Misato willingly volunteered to have Shinji live with her, and later Asuka.
