I know this may be a difficult concept for some to grasp -

Oh, no - BA's spewing more of his bitter old-man venom - close your ears!

There were lots of guys surfing WindanSea today.

Maybe about 50 people out before 8:00 am.

Some, not all, of the participants did not have the skills necessary to safely ride today's waves.

I have caught so many waves here, that wave quantity is not a necessity for me any more - but - I do like to catch 3 - 4 good waves before calling it a day.

I am usually one of the guys sitting way outside, hoping to snag a decent bomb.

I took this photo really early - before 7:00 am:

Surfers or speed bumps?

- If I wanna go left, just look at ALL the bodies between me and the end of my ride, which should be completed when I hit Turtles.

Some of the inside guys are very good surfers, and they know exactly what to do if a set comes.

- BUT -

Some of the inside guys are KOOKS!!

They are afraid to paddle out - they know they are not good enough to hang with US - am I kidding - NO!

So they sit inside, hoping to catch one -

This is their Impossible Dream!

Welcome to WindanSea Beach - La Jolla, California
Now Go Home!

The gang of "locals" sitting inside is HOT!

Some are professional surfers, all are world class surfers, and of course, all are sponsored -

Even I cannot hang with them - not kidding!

Jeeze BA - what's your 'ffing point?

The point is:

If the kooks were not tied to their boards, they would not last one decent set in the pit!

PERIOD

Twice, I did not take-off on good waves because the idiots were stuck, in the pit, looking-up at me, their eyes were like a deer's, caught in a speeding car's headlights -

So what happens on the biggest set of the day?

- North Shore Tim and I collide - I get pitched -

I lost a front tooth and I spent a bit of time in the emergency room at Scripps Hospital!

Tim is one of the best surfers here.

I've NEVER seen him back out of a wave - nor do I pull out of many - we collide - an accident.

I didn't know with whom I crashed right away - so I resorted to my usual potty-mouth behavior - aimed at a good friend -

WHY?

'Cause I was frustrated with the number of idiots in the water -

I apologized to Tim for my behavior - I was preaching to the choir!

Later,

BA

Localism - Another Boring Piece of Crap by BA - the good stuff was written by others!  New - June 21, 2003

Oops Forgot Some Stuff:

Thought I'd better add some disclaimers:

* All of the tales I'm spinning are based upon facts of some sort.
* Most of the tales will be at least 50% factual.

I'm doing this web thing for a few reasons, and it is, and will be, "a work in progress" for a while:

1. It's an easy way for me to organize my "autobiography" so my kids will know a bit more about me.
2. I find this computer and internet stuff fascinating.
3. I was lucky to be able to start surfing - at least in my opinion - in the "Golden Age" of surfing - I do have some yarns to spin regarding those times.
4. This is an efficient way for some of the old guys to touch bases again - I've received a few e-mails from old (err, long-time) friends I've haven't seen in forty years or so - I think that's way cool.
5. I'm still surfing almost every day - and, at least in my opinion - that's a pretty "boss" thing to write about.
6. I think it will be nice, in a couple of years, to maybe look back at how good - or bad - the surf was in any given stretch of time.
