The Dreamers Handbook

Players (known as Dreamers) have a choice of 4 Foci that they may choose from during their first Dream in the City of Underlight. Each of these Foci have Arts that are specific to their focus and some that are general. DreamSoul Arts may be learned by all as well as some other Arts from each of the foci. They are as follows:

You increase your elemental force (Willpower, Insight, Resilience, Lucidity, and DreamSoul) by gaining Orbits. With every Orbit gained, you gain one point in at least one element. Your focus element will advance faster than the others.

Dreamers advance in Orbit by gaining Experience Points (XP). Dreamers gain XP in many ways. Every tenth Orbit is known as a Sphere. You do not automatically attain a Sphere just because you have enough XP. You must seek out a Teacher powerful enough to Ascend you to the Sphere you are ready for, and fulfill the requests by that Teacher to qualify for Ascension. These include missions, quests, duties or other requests.

Sphere and XP Table

The City of Underlight is huge. It is very easy to get lost while you travel throughout the Dream. I have provided some maps here in my scrolls for your use.  The Art of Know does come in very handy as you travel about the Dream. During your travels you will come across a great many other Dreamers. Stop. Talk to them, ask them questions, this is how we all learn about the Dream which we travel. This is where we come into the Rules of Underlight.

Rule 3: Do not talk about real world (called Cloudsbreak) happenings, be it sports, religion, world politics, ect. This is a fantasy world, a Dream, and we, The Dreamers, are here to escape it.
    - If we happen to be Dreaming and something comes up, like a quick bathroom break or phone call, we 'Trance' in the Dream.  If this needs to be done, it is best done in Sanctuary, for even within one minute, a DarkMare or Dakote could show up, and with no controller, your Avatar may be collapsed pretty quick. You should move into a corner while away, so as not to block other Dreamers who need to pass through. Underlight will kick you out if there is no action or movement for 15 minutes from your Avatar.

This is the rule as I interpret it. The other 2 rules are of course exactly as stated. These are the 3 rules as quoted directly from Lyra Studios.

The First Rule -- "Be Honest with the Software"

Cheating or hacking of any kind is prohibited. Because the client software is a terminal to our servers, using an altered version of the client software is an attempt to hack our servers. This is a federal offense, and we will prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. The use of any program that alters data transferred between our server and the client will also be considered an attempt to hack our servers and will also be prosecuted.
The Second Rule -- "Respect Others"

Keep your behavior appropriate at all times. If your language or behavior repeatedly annoys or offends others, you will be banned from playing. We place no limits on the use of language. Consenting adults are free to engage in any language or behavior they mutually agree to. Inappropriate behavior includes attacking other players without a valid "in game reason", using unnecessarily offensive language, annoying others with out of character chat, excessive begging, etc.

The Third Rule -- "Stay in Character"

Underlight is a true role playing game. You are required to actively pretend. You must act at all times as if you are a character in this world. This means keeping all "real world" chat out of the game. Everyone playing this game wants to pretend they are citizens of Underlight, City of Dreams. If you don't want to pretend, or feel pretending is too hard, don't play. There are plenty of free chat rooms out there, so if you want to talk about the latest sports scores, or the latest real world gossip, please do it outside the City of Dreams. If you must talk out of character, please do so in "whispers."
