Dictionary.com defines Nazi as "A member of the National Socialist German Workers' Party, founded in Germany in 1919 and brought to power in 1933 under Adolf Hitler."
The Nazi Party is responsible for some of the worst acts in this planet's history.
In German, it is called the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei. In English, it is called the National Socialist German Workers' Party. It was founded as the German Workers' Party by Anton Drexler in 1919. Drexler was a Munich locksmith. It changed its name in 1920. Adolf Hitler became leader in 1921. Party gained power in 1933 and governed Germany.
In 1933, the Nazis won 44 percent of the votes. That was more than any other party. In July 1933, the Nazi Party was declared the only party in Germany.
There have been minor Nazi movements in other countries, including the United States, since 1945. They were not as big as the 20's, 30's, and 40's.
The rise of the Nazi Party started what would what bring many deaths of many races. Jews especially. Gypsies, African Americans, and other races were targets of Hitler's new government.
Hitler wanted to create a perfect race. To do that, he needed to eliminate what he called "inferior people."
"Nazi policy aimed at territorial expansion and the ultimate rule of the German master race over a hierarchy of subordinate people. World War II effectively prevented this, but before Hitler's downfall millions of Jews and other people were put to death in Nazi concentration camps"-Encyclopedia Britannica.
