Bengali settlers murder an indigenous Chakma woman in Kaokhali

On 29 March 2010, the Muslim settlers murdered an indigenous Chakma woman Mrs. Jharna Dewan (33) in Kaokhali of Rangamati district. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers- Idris Ali and Kashem. On that day she went to fetch firewood from a forest. When her daughter got back home from school in the afternoon, she found her mother was missing. Then they began searching and found her dead body lying naked in the forest. Her family members suspect that she might had been raped before the murder.
