Baghaihat victim

On 19-20 February 2010 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land.

The indigenous Buddhist man was gunned down by the Bangladesh army.


Bengali settlers murder 3 indigenous Buddhist people in Manikchari

On 21 June 1998, some indigenous people were returning to Rangamati from Chittagong by bus via Manikchari. When the bus (No. 040199) arrived at Manikchari, the Muslim settlers removed 2 indigenous youths and 1 indigenous woman from the bus. The Muslim settlers severely beat the indigenous people and hacked them to death under the very nose of the Bangladesh Police.

While the killing of 3 indigenous people were going on, the other 7 indigenous passengers managed to flee from the bus. Among the 7 indigenous survivors were-

  1. Mr. Abhoy Chakma, the son of Mr. Angshu Prakash Chakma of Champaknagar, Rangamati
  2. Mr. Babli Talukdar, the son of Mr. Amyo Prakash Talukdar, Contractor Para, Rangamati
  3. Mr. Bhuridatta Chakma of West Tribal Adam, Rangamati
  4. Mr. Mong Thingo Marma, a Medical Officer of Rangamati Municipality

3 indigenous victims could not be identified at the time of the incident.
