On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. A Chakma couple pick up the pieces after the house was burnt down by the settlers.

Bangladesh army collaborators murder 2 indigenous men in Dighinala

On 28 April 2020, Bangladesh army backed collaborators (so called Reformists) shot dead 2 indigenous men Banchara in Dighinala, Khagrachhari district. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Babu Chakma alias Rijang (35), son of Sushil Bhushan Chakma from Indra Moni Para
  2. Mr. Sudip Chakma alias Bangallo (40), son of Birendra Mohan Chakma from Madhya Banchara.

Locals confirmed that Babu Chakma is a UPDF activist and Sudip Chakma is an ordinary villager.

According to local sources, at about 9:00 am, an armed group of collaborators or Reformists numbering 7-8 arrived at the house of Sudip Chakma Bangallo by a pick-up truck of Bangladesh army. As soon as arriving there, they fired indiscriminately surrounding the house. At this, above said 2 persons died by gun shots on the spot. Soon after death of the two persons, the collaborators went back towards Dighinala town.
