About 2 years ago Manendra Tripura son of Karmadhan Tripura had moved to Gorukata area from Taracharanpara under the same union. He lived in his home alone. These 4 Muslim settlers were living there after they grabbed lands from indigenous people with the help of Bangladesh army.

On 29 April all Muslim settlers' houses were found locked from outside which meant that they had left their homes after the murder. The heads of 4 settler families were identified as:

  1. Mohammad Majid (50)
  2. Mohammad Ebaidul (52)
  3. Mohammad Din Ali (50)
  4. Mohammad Dali (65)
