On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

The settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.


Bengali settlers attack an indigenous Marma woman in Manikchari

On 24 July 2015, Muslim settlers hacked an indigenous Marma widow at Tulabil in Manikchari, Khagrachari a bid to grab her land.

Pienee Marma (45) was seriously injured in the attack which took place at her home in Tulabil village under Batnatoli Union. She was first admitted to Manikchari hospital and later transferred to Chittagong MedicalCollege and Hospital for treatment.

Mohammad Azad and his 2 friends took part in the attack. A mother of two children, Mrs Pienee Marma wife of late Mongsajai Marma has been living in her fathers village Tulabil since the death of her husband couple years ago.

Bangladesh goverenment settled Muslim settlers in her village by grabbing land from indigenous Buddhist and Hindu people. Her Muslim settler neighbours had been trying to drive her out from her land by harassing her in many different ways.
