On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army indiscriminately beat indigenous people in Laxmichari

On 16 May 2015, Bangladesh army stopped a group of indigenous students at Shilachari in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army began beating them with sticks without giving them any reason. At least 20 indigenous people and students were injured.

The atrocity took place at about 12:00 noon on 16 May 2015. A group of indigenous students from Shuknachari were on their way to a play ground in Baghyapara to participate in a cricket tournament organised by Laxmichari Union Council when they came under attack.

Bangladesh army also forced them standing in the scorching summer sun for 10 minutes and seized seven motor bikes. Some of the students who suffered baton charges are:
