Bangladesh army
On 19-20 February 2010 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. Many indigenous houses were burnt down including Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Members of the Bangladesh army in CHT.

Bangladesh army detain 3 indigenous Buddhist student in Babuchara

On 11 May 1996 The Adjutant of the Babuchara Military Zone arrested 3 indigenous students for collecting donation at the local Babuchara Bazaar for the general meeting of the HSC and HPC of Dighinala area to be held on May 15, 1996. Then he took them to Dighinala Police Station.

On the same day Mr. Birendra Lal Chakma (the Chairman of Babuchara Union Council) and Mr. Arun Kumar Chakma (a Member of Babuchara Union Council) met with the military commander for the release of the 3 students. However, the commander agreed to release them only on the condition that they would not collect donation for the HSC and HPC again. The student victims were

  1. Mr. Babul Chakma
  2. Mr. Tribhushan Chakma
  3. Mr. Minoti Ranjan Chakma.
