Bangladesh army harass indigenous people in Matiranga

On 30 November 1995, Bangladesh army of No. 2 Brigade at Matiranga, Khagrachari conducted a search and destroy campaign for Shanti Bahini in the areas of Rubber Bagan, Manchi Para, Rengkong Para and Bhakta Karbari Para of Guimara in Matiranga sub-district.

Bangladesh army thoroughly searched the indigenous houses, interrogated and harassed the indigenous villagers. Needless to say, the soldiers failed to find Shanti Bahini.

Bangladesh army can arbitrarily detain, interrogate and torture any indigenous person in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bangladesh army requires no warrant, suspicion is enough to harass the indigenous people. Bangladesh army is driving out indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Christian tribes from Chittagong Hill Tracts and settling Muslim settlers in their villages. Their aim is to Islamize Chittagong Hill Tracts by terror.
