On 30 November 1995, Bangladesh army troops from the Pilak Army Camp under the Matiranga Military Zone attacked a group of PCJSS tax collectors in the area but failed to apprehand them.

During the attack, the PCJSS tax collectors lost their luggage and cash Taka 40,000. In retaliation for their failure to apprehand the PCJSS tax collectors, the troops arrested two innocent indigenous Tripura men on suspicion of being involved in the tax collection. The victims were -

  2. Mr. Ropin Tripura (22)

Bangladesh army can arbitrarily detain, interrogate and torture any indigenous person in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bangladesh army requires no warrant, suspicion is enough to harass the indigenous people. Bangladesh army is driving out indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Christian tribes from Chittagong Hill Tracts and settling Muslim settlers in their villages. Their aim is to Islamize Chittagong Hill Tracts by terror.
