Bengali settlers rape indigenous mother and daughter in Dighinala

On 31 October 1995, Muslim settlers led by Mohammad Nobya of Boalkhali cluster village and Mohammad Kasem of Rashik Nagar cluster village went to the house of Mrs. Tungobi Chakma (45) wife of Mr. Bulu Chakma of Hachinsanpur village in Dighinala, Khagrachari district to rape her and her daughter Miss. Mallika Chakma (21). In the absence of Mr. Bulu Chakma, Muslim settlers beguiled these indigenous women into drinking Fanta (a soft drink) mixed with sleeping drug. The drink was so heavily drugged that these women fell asleep almost immediately after drinking. Then Muslim settlers gang raped them.

On the following morning, the women were found unconscious and so were taken to Khagrachari Hospital for treatment. Fortunately Mrs. Chakma and her daughter recovered from the overwhelming drug effect and were able to reveal the names of the Muslim settlers. Needless to say the local authorities did not bring the Muslim settler rapists to justice.
