Shantibala Chakma of Mallya Massace
On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed at least 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Shantibala Chakma, the wife of Mr. Saral Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bengali settlers arrange mass marriage for 180 male settlers in Panchari

On 23 August 1995, Muslim settlers of Ultachari village in Panchari, Khagrachari district arranged mass marraige of 18i newly arrived Muslim settler males with the girls of the already settled Muslim settler families.

The mass marriage was organized under the instruction of Bangladesh army in order to enable the newly arrived Muslim settlers to settle in the CHT and also to entitle them to ration cards and other facilities given to all Muslim settler families by the Bangladesh Government.
