On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Dr. Shusovon Dewan is an indigenous physician in Rangamati. Muslim settlers mercilessly beat him when they found him in the street.


Bangladesh army torture an indigenous man in Laxmichari

On 24 August 1993, Bangladesh army numbering 20 soldiers from Shuknachari army camp led by Lt. Shaheed started a journey toward Pekkhuya Adam as part of a military campaign.

While going to Pekkuya Adam, Bangladesh army detained an innocent indigenous man who was working in his agricultural farm at Dewanpara in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. They severely beat him for not being able to give any infornation about the Shanti Bahini. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Bharat Mohan Chakma (40), son of Mr. Tejendra Chakma of Dewanpara village, Laxmichari.
