On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Indigenous people assessing the damage after Muslim settlers burnt their houses to ashes.

Bangladesh Rifles torture indigenous men in Barkal

On 20 June 1993, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) of 18 Battalion from Baradan BDR camp led by Subedar Mojammel Hoque arrested and tortured an indigenous person at Dighalchari in Barkal, Rangamati district.

BDR tortured the indigenous man on false charge of collaborating with the Shanti Bahini. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Ari Mohan Chakma, son of Mr. Ana Chakma of Dighalchari, Barkal.

On 20 June 1993, Bangladesh army of 18 EBR from Ranyachari army camp arrested and tortured an indigenous person on false accusation of being a Shanti Bahini collaborator. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Sharat Chandra Tanchangya, son of Mr. Padma Moni Tanchangya of Sonaram Karbari Para, Barkal.
