On 14 May 2016, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers murdered a 75 year old Buddhist monk at Chakpara of Baishari union in Naikhyangchhari, Bandarban district. Maung Shue U Chak had a land dispute with Muslim settlers who were trying to grab his Buddhist temple.


Bangladesh army murder an indigenous man in Mahalchari

On 20 Dec. 1991, Bangladesh army of 26 East Bengal Regiment from army camp at Manikchari Bazar led by Capt. Hameed raided Changrachari Mukh village in Mahalchari, Khagrachari district.

During the raid, Bangladesh army robbed indigenous people and shot an indigenous man at about 10:30 p.m. To hide the robbery and cold-blooded murder, Bangladesh army took away the dead body and disposed it at a secret location. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Nishi Kumar Chakma (45), son of Mr. Mangala Chakma.

Then Capt. Hameed compelled 40-50 indigenous villagers to sign a written statement that the deceased person was involved in the Shanti Bahini activities.
