Indigenous couple of Naniachar attack

When whole country was celebrating the victory day of the country on 16 Dec 2014, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous people in Bagachari area of Naniarchar to evict them from their traditional land. 50 indigenous houses, 7 shops and 1 Buddhist temple were destroyed.

Bangladesh army rob indigenous people in Naniachar

On 5 Nov. 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 Engineers Battalion from the army camp at Burighat led by Major Mahboob carried out a massive military operation against the indigenous inhabitants of Tong Tulya Para village in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

During the military operation, Bangladesh army robbed money, jewellery, food stocks, live stocks and all valuable household property from the helpless indigenous villagers. Some of the victims are:

  1. Mr. Thuyang Marma (65), son of the late Kyajo Chai Marma. BD army robbed more than Taka 10,000.
  2. Mr. Kyajai Prue Marma (35), son of Mr. Thuyang Marma. BD army robbed more than Taka 5,000.
  3. Mr. Aungkyazai Marma (28), son of Mr. Mrittang Marma. BD army robbed more than Taka 15,000.
  4. Mr. Apruchai Marma (28), son of Mr. Aungthuai Marma. BD army robbed more than Taka 10,000.
