Longadu people fleeing Muslim settler attack

On 2 June 2017, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 4 indigenous Buddhist villages in Longadu. Muslim settlers murdered an indigenous Buddhist women and burnt down more than 250 indigenous Buddhist houses.


Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous people in Mahalchari

On 25-28 Oct. 1991, Bangladesh army of 24 East Bengal Regiment from Mahalchari Zone led by Major Sadat (stationed at Kyang Ghat camp), Leut. Tarig (based at Maischari camp) and Subedar Siddique (deployed at Itchari camp) attacked several indigenous villages in Mahalchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army beat up the villagers, molested women, robbed stocks and valuables and set the houses on fire. Following people are among hundreds of victims:

  1. Mr. Anil Kumar Chakma (58), son of Mr. Durga Mohan Chakma of Ultachari, Mahalchari.
  2. Mrs. Suramala Chakma (60), wife of Mr. Sukracharya Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Rheebai Marma (55), (Ex-Chairman of the Union Parishad), son of Mr. Shudu Marma of Boli Para, Mahalchari.
  4. Mr. Sneha Ranjan Chakma (31), son of Mr. Upendra Lal Chakma of Ultachari, Mahalchari.
  5. Mr. Biraj Kumar Chakma (36), son of late Krishna Chakma, of Ultachari, Mahalchari
  6. Mrs. Kiran Mala Chakma (27), wife of Mr. Shantipriya Chakma of Golakya Adam, Mahalchari.
