Chakma mother and victim of Teknaf
On 30 May 2012 Bangladesh police and Muslim settlers raided indigenous Buddhist villages of Howaikyong area under Teknaf in Cox’s Bazaar. In this attack 12 Chakma villagers were severely wounded. 7 Chakma villagers including 4 minors were arrested without warrant. One pregnant woman prematurely gave birth to a baby due to torture and several women were sexually harassed.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous men in Chittagong Cantonment

On 8th July 1991 at night, Bangladesh police arrested 3 indigenous men from Rajapukur Lane, Andarkilla, Chittagong. Bangladesh police handed over the indigenous men to Forces Intelligent personnel of Chittagong Cantonment where they were subjected to inhuman torture.

3 indigenous men were detained at Chittagong Jail for a month under Special Power Act 1974. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Monotosh Dewan (55), Manager, Accounting Department, Liver Brothers, Chittagong.
  2. Mr. Jatna Sen Chakma (23), son of Mr. Shachindra Chakma of Baroitali, Kawkhali, Rangamati.
  3. Mr. Josheph Chakma (16), son of Mr. Samiron Chakma.
