On 3 July 1991, Bangladesh army abducted an indigenous Buddhist man in Rangamati.

Mr. Anil Bikash Chakma of Shukna Chari in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district went to appear in a job interview at CHT Development Board in Rangamati. Just before appearing in the interview, the Force Intelligence (FI) personnel asked him to go to the office of the Superintendent of Police in Rangamati.

From that very day his whereabouts is not known and his relatives could not trace him till today. It is assumed that Bangladesh army abducted, brutally tortured and killed him. Bangladesh army abduction and murder of indigenous people is commonplace in CHT whose dead bodies are never found.
