Bangladesh army the proctector of Muslim settlers
On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Bangladesh army attack indigenous people in Naniachar

On 2 July 1991, in reprisal to the Shanti Bahini attack of 29 June 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Burighat army camp launched a military operation against the indigenous people at Kurakuttay Para and Hatimara in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army arrested 7 indigenous people and transferred them to Brigade Head Quarter in Rangamati. They have not been released yet. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Shanti Moy Chakma (25), son of Mr. Pramode Bikash Chakma.
  2. Mr. Dharma Moni Chakma (22), son of Mr. Chikonya Chakma.
  3. Mrs. Bimalmati Chakma (45), wife of late Garunjya Chakma.
  4. Mrs. Batyaram Chakma (50).
  5. Mr. Kali Kanta Chakma (53).
  6. Mr. Samar Kishta Chakma (70), son of late Kamalchan Chakma.
