On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous victims live in open ground after their homes were burnt down by the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Naniachar

On 22 June 1991, Bangladesh army of 8 EBR from Burighat army camp led by Capt. Feroze launched a military operation against the indigenous people at Kumar Para in Naniachar, Rangamati district.

During the operation, Bangldesh army beat and tortured about 10 indigenous people. Bangladesh army took 4 indigenous people to army camp where they severely tortured the victims during interrogation. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Jogendra Chakma (60), son of Mr. Kalidas Chakma.
  2. Mr. Suresh Moni Chakma (65), son of Mr. Kalya Chakma.
  3. Mr. Subhash Priya Chakma (14), son of Mr. Indra Ranjan Chakma.
  4. Mr. Krishna Chandra Chakma (35), son of Mr. Hari Chakma.
