On 3 January 2018, Bangladesh army backed collaborators shot dead Mithun Chakma (22) at Switch Gate in Khagrachari. Mr. Mithun Chakma is a prominent member of UPDF. After attending the court hearing in the morning at Khagrachari district court, Mithun Chakma went home at Aparna Chaudhury Para in Khagrachari district of Bangladesh. A group of Bangladesh army collaborators abducted him from his home, took him to a place known as Switch Gate and shot him in the head and stomach.

Bangladesh army torture and murder indigenous people in Kaukhali

On 10 May 1991, Bangladesh army of 5th EBR from Ghagra army camp led by Capt. Anis arrested 17 indigenous people at Midingyachari in Kaukhali, Rangamati district. Bangladesh army took them to army camp and tortured them during interrogation.

Bangladesh army tortured 1 indigenous person to death on 11 May 1991. Bangladesh army handed the dead body over to his father on 12 May 1991 and gave him Taka 1000 for cremation of the dead body. 2 indigenous detainees still remain untraced. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Kashiram Chakma (39), son of Mr. Braja Mohan Chakma. Bangladesh army beat him to death.
  2. Mr. Jagat Jyoti Chakma (33), missing.
  3. Mr. Padma Banshi Chakma (37), son of Mr. Suratya Chakma, missing.
