Indigenous victims of Naniachar attack

When whole country was celebrating the victory day of the country on 16 Dec 2014, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous people in Bagachari area of Naniarchar to evict them from their traditional land. 50 indigenous houses, 7 shops and 1 Buddhist temple were destroyed.

Bangladesh army tortur an indigenous person in Naniachar

On 6 April 1991, Muslim settlers and Village Defence Party (VDP) arrested an indigenous person at Burighat in Naniachar, Rangamati district. Muslim settlers falsely accused him of being a Shanti Bahini member and handed him over to Captain Feroze, camp commander of Burighat Bazar army camp.

Bangladesh army subjected him to inhuman torture including beating and pouring water through his nostrils and mouth. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Ramesh Chandra Chakma (35), son of Mr. Heera Mohan Chakma of Paschim Hatimara, Naniarchar.
