On 19 December 1986, Bangladesh army men gang raped Rita Chakma (13) of Nuaram Karbari Para, Dighinala. About 20 Bangladesh army personnel from the Viswa Ram Karbari Para army camp of Dighinala raided the indigenous Buddhist village of Nuaram Karbari Para in the morning. All the male inhabitants of the village were taken by force to cut the jungle surrounding the army camp. Bangladesh army encircled the village at 11:00 a.m. and on the pretext of searching entered the houses. Bangladesh army stripped all the women and the girls who were in their houses, and gang raped. Even the minors were not spared.

Bengali settlers rape and murder 3 indigenous Buddhist girls and 1 boy in Laxmichari

On 28 December 1990, Muslim settlers gang raped and murdered 3 indigenous Buddhist girls and a boy in Laxmichari, Khagrachari district. 3 indigenous Buddhist girls and a boy went to catch fish in a stream. 8 Muslim settlers and members of the Village Defence Party deployed at No. 10 Sentry Post at Laxmichari within the Laxmichari sub-district gang raped and murdered the indigenous girls and boys.

The Muslim settlers and VDP members were under the command of Maj. Gulzar of the 32 East Bengal Regiment of the Bangladesh Army posted at Laxmichari Camp and Lt. Col. Hameed Iqbal of the 32 EBR of the Bangladesh Army, the Zonal Commander of the Manikchari Zone.

Later indigenous people found their mutilated bodies near the stream. There were biting marks on the breasts and cheeks of the girls. A complaint was lodged with the above-mentioned commanders but no action was taken against the culprits. The victims were:

  1. Miss Shukka Bala Chakma (18), daughter of Mr. Bangalya Chakma of Beltali village in Laxmichari
  2. Miss Anandamala Chakma (13), daughter of Mr. Bangalya Chakma of Beltali village in Laxmichari
  3. Master Satish Kumar Chakma (10), son of Mr. Bangalya Chakma of Beltali village in Laxmichari
  4. Miss Nirandevi Chakma (12), daughter of Mr. Sukracharya Chakma of Beltali village in Laxmichari
