On 3 August 2004, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed 2 members of an indigenous Buddhist family in Dhandachara village of Bhushanchara in Barkal. At night at around 11 pm the Muslim settlers attacked Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma (33) and his family members with swords and spears. Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma died on the spot and his wife Ms. Subarna Chakma (28) and 11 months old son Kampan Chakma were seriously injured. Next day on 4 August Ms. Subarna died from her injuries. Kampan Chakma got serious injuries at his right leg.

Bangladesh army torture to death an indigenous Buddhist man in Dighinala

On 8 September 1990, Brig. Salzar Rahman, the Commander of the Artillery Brigade of the Dighinala Cantonment, arrested 2 innocent indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala.

Bangladesh army severely tortured 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists. One of the victims, Mr. Buddha Ranjan Chakma (35), the son of Mr. Birasen Chakma of Baghaichari village within Dighinala sub-district died of his injuries. The other victim was Mr. Debaranjan Chakma of Kawbakhali village within Dighinala sub-district.
