On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers massacred about 30 indigenous Chakma Buddhists at Mallya. One of them was Bablu Chakma the son of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded on a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the vessel. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh army murder and terrorize indigenous people in Ruma

On 29 April 1990, Bangladesh army personnel of the 11 East Bengal Regiment from Galengya Army Camp and Ruma Cantonment led by Capt. Hassan launched a military operation against indigenous village Datlirpara in Ruma, Bandarban district.

Bangladesh army arrested and tortured many indigenous villagers. Bangladesh army kicked, beat and hanged indigenous victims upside down and forced water through their nostrils. As a result, many of the indigenous victims were wounded. Then Bangladesh army shot dead following indigenous man:

Bangladesh army detained and tortured following indigenous people:

  1. Mr. Tangam Bawm (33) the village leader and the son of Mr. Datlir Bawm
  2. Mr. Siamto Bawm (35) the son of Mr. Siamtir Bawm
  3. Mr. Lalpianmay Bawm (25) the son of Mr. Simsuai Bawm
