Ponemala Tripura killed by Bengali settlers
On the night between 3-4 September 2009 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed Ponemala Tripura (50) wife of Bhibishan Tripura at Sindukchari under Mahalchari. The villagers recovered her dead body from their farm in the morning of 4 September 2009. She had a land dispute with the Muslim settlers.

Bangladesh army torture and rob indigenous Marma Buddhists in Kaukhali

On 13 January 1990, the members of the Bangladesh Army of the 5th East Bengal Regiment from the Ghagra Zone raided 2 indigenous Buddhist houses in the Chowdhury Para village in No. 1 Betbunia Mouza within Kaukhali Sub- District.

Bangladesh army tortured the residents and then robbed them of their money and valuable things. The victims of robbery are:

  1. Mr. Aungsa Prue Marma (65), the son of Mr. Kaung Krey Marma. Bangladesh army stole Taka 4000.00 from him
  2. Mr. U Hla Prue Marma (37), the son of Mr. Aungsa Prue Marma. Bangladesh army stole Taka 6000.00 worth of rice, money and goods from him
