On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed about 30 indigenous Buddhist people at Mallya. 2 of them were Bablu Chakma and Chittipudi Chakma (6 months), son and daughter of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded at a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh army arrests an indigenous Marma Buddhist in Khagrachari

On 21 Dec. 1989, Bangladesh army's Zonal Commander of Khagrachari Zone arrested an innocent indigenous Buddhist person in Khagrachari. The victim went to meet the army commander to enquire about the fate of the arrested persons from his village but instead he too was arrested by the army commander. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Ankumani Roaza, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Helendra Roaza, of Beltali, No. 265 Bangal Kati Mouza, Khagrachari.

India was partitioned on the basis of religion in 1947. 98.5% of the CHT population was non-Muslim during the partition. The indigenous people of CHT opted to join either India or Burma. But Muslim League conspired with the Boundary Commission and illegally annexed CHT with East Pakistan in violation of the principle of partition. Successive Bangladesh governments have been sponsoring Muslim settlers from plain land to dilute the indigenous people of CHT.

Bangladesh army's role in CHT is to protect the Muslim settlers and carry out massacre, extra-judicial killing, torture, detention withou trial, land grab, rape, religious persecution and ethnic cleansing against indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Animist people in CHT.
