On 19-20 February 2010 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Baghaichari. Many indigenous houses were burnt down including Buddhist temples. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. Members of the Bangladesh army in CHT.

Bangladesh army robs indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Naniachar

On 26 June 1989, Bangladesh army of 5 EBR from camp at Kudukchari robbed live stock from the indigenous Buddhist inhabitants of Bhuiya Adam in Naniachar, Rangamati district. Bangladesh army perpetrators were identified as Giasuddin, Ayub and others. The indigenous victims are:

  1. Mr. Parandhan Chakma, 45 yrs, son of late Dud Kheiya Chakma of Bhuiya Adam, Naniachar. A goat worth Taka 1200.00 was robbed from him.
  2. Mr. Suranjay Chakma, 65 yrs, son of Mr. Manda Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 7 fowls and 2 ducks from him.
  3. Mr. Sushil Kumar Chakma, 37 yrs, son of Mr. Suranjay Chakma, address as above. BD Army robbed 3 fowls from him.
