Bablu and Chittipudi Chakma of Mallya Massacre
On 2 February 1992 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed about 30 indigenous Buddhist people at Mallya. 2 of them were Bablu Chakma and Chittipudi Chakma (6 months), son and daughter of Manek Kumar Chakma. Two bombs exploded at a river ferry at Mallya. The explosion killed a passenger and seriously injured the skipper of the ferry. The survivors swam ashore but the armed Muslim settlers were waiting for them and attacked the indigenous Chakma Buddhists - men women and children.

Bangladesh army extorts an indigenous Marma Buddhist in Mahalchari

On 8 June 1989, Bangladesh army of 32 EBR from Sindhuk Chari Camp led by Capt. Helal extorted Tk.12,000.00 (Twelve thousand takas) from an indigenous Marma Buddhist in Mahalchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army on pretext of bringing an allegation of collaboration with the Shanti Bahini.

Bangladesh army robbed 4 quintals of rice and 4 quilts from the victim. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Areshi Marma, 55 yrs, son of Mr. Maung Kyawoo Marma of Dhebachari, Sinduk Chari, Mahalchari.

India was partitioned on the basis of religion in 1947. 98.5% of the CHT population was non-Muslim during the partition. The indigenous people of CHT opted to join either India or Burma. But Muslim League conspired with the Boundary Commission and illegally annexed CHT with East Pakistan in violation of the principle of partition. Successive Bangladesh governments have been sponsoring Muslim settlers from plain land to dilute the indigenous people of CHT.

Bangladesh army's role in CHT is to protect the Muslim settlers and carry out massacre, extra-judicial killing, torture, detention withou trial, land grab, rape, religious persecution and ethnic cleansing against indigenous Buddhist, Hindu and Animist people in CHT.
