On 3 April 2006, Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Mahalchari of Khagrachari. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers gang raped Ms. Krajaima Marma (20) daughter of Chaihla Prue Marma at Saprue Karbaripara.

Bangldesh Rifles murder 4 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Barkal

On 19 March 1989, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel of the 7th BDR Battalion from Gach Kaba Chara BDR Camp murdered 4 (four) indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Barkal, Rangamati district. One person survived although seriously wounded.

5 indigenous Chakma Buddhists went to collect fire wood in the forest. While returning home, they were arrested by the BDR personnel and were taken to the BDR Camp. Next day, on 20 March 1989, the arrested persons were taken to a place near the BDR camp. Then BDR brutally shot dead 4 indigenous Chakma Buddhists. One indigenous victim managed to escape and return to his village. The victims are:

1. Mr. Grita Ranjan Chakma, 28 yrs, son of Mr. Debendra Chakma of Toibang Mouza, Bara Harina Union, Barkal. Killed by the BDR personnel.
2. Mr. Sadhan Chandra Chakma, 35 yrs, son of Mr. Dasarath Chakma, address as above. Killed by the BDR personnel.
3. Mr. Nanda Kumar Chakma, 24 yrs, son of Mr. Dabana Chakma, address as above. Killed by the BDR personnel.
4. Mr. Mani Chakma, 27 yrs, son of Mr. Hira Mani Chakma, address as above. Killed by the BDR personnel.
5. Mr. Anil Kumar Chakma, 28 yrs, son of Mr. Biranga Mohan Chakma, of Chiba Bara Harina Mouza, Barkal. He was wounded by BDR firing.
