On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

Dr. Shusovon Dewan is an indigenous physician in Rangamati. Muslim settlers mercilessly beat him when they found him in the street.


Bangladesh army torture an indigenous man in Baghaichari

On 24 Dec. 1988, Bangladesh army of 41 EBR from the army Camp at Karengatali arrested an innocent person from Karengatali market in Baghaichari, Rangamati district.

The arrested person was taken to the army camp where he was subjected to torture with electrocution. He was released after 3 days. The victim is:

  1. Mr. Pratul Chandra Chakma of Karengatali, Baghaichari.
