On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Naniachar

On 12 Dec. 1988, Bangladesh army from Naniachar Camp led by Major Sharif and Lt. Munir carried out a military operation against the inhabitants of North and West Hatimara of Burighat Mouza in Naniachar, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army serverely beat and tortured indigenous people. The victims are:

  1. Master Tangula Chakma (12), son of Mr. Chandra Mohan Chakma of North Hatimara, Naniachar.
  2. Mr. Deva Ranjan Chakma (22), son of Mr. Binay Krishna Chakma of West Hatimara, Naniachar.
  3. Mr. Kiran Bikash Chakma (28), son of Mr. Binay Krishna Chakma of West Hatimara, Naniachar.
