On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Muslim settlers attacked this indigenous Buddhist girl with machete.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Longadu

On 13 August 1988, Bangladesh army of 14 EBR from the Zonal HQ at Mainee Mukh, Longadu led by Subadar Kamal carried out an military operation against the indigenous inhabitants of Manikya Karbari Para in Longadu, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh army launched the operation on pretext of searching the Shanti Bahini. During the operation, Bangladesh army arrested and tortured many indigenous people. The victims were taken to the army camp at Mainee Mukh where they were subjected to tortures with electrocution and water was forced through their nostrils. The victims were tortured whole night and next day they were released. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Swapan Bikash Chakma (19), son of Mr. Baikuntha Chakma of Sonai, Longadu. He was taken to the army camp and was tortured inhumanly.
  2. Master Batya Chakma (16), son of Lettangfa Chakma of Tintilla, Longadu. Tortured as above.
  3. Mr. Niyati Ranjan Chakma (18), son of Mr. Dinalal Chakma, of Manikya Para, Longadu. Tortured as above.
  4. Master Sona Ranjan Chakma (16), son of Mr. Prabin Chandra Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Sudatta cbakma (40), son of Mr. Nalini Kumar Chakma, address as above.
  6. Mr. Indra Baran Chakma (42), son of Mr. Nalini Kumar Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mrs. Amita Devi Chakma (36), wife of Mr. Indra Baran Chakma. She was beaten and gang raped by the army personnel, address as above.
  8. Mr. Priti Bindu Chakma (30), son of Mr. Nani Bikash Chakma. He was severely beaten, address as above.
  9. Master Bhupati Ranjan Chakma (16), son of Mr. Prabin Chandra Chakma, address as above.
  10. Mr. Shib Ratan Chakma (25), son of Mr. Sambaran Chakma of Madhya Chara, Longadu. As above.
  11. Master Tantu Chakma (15), son of Mr. Sudhir Kumar Chakma of Manikya Para, Longadu. As above.
  12. Mr. Kinaram Chakma (39), address as above. Beaten as above.
  13. Master Swapan Dutta Chakma (14), son of Mr. Mankumar Chakma, address as above.
