Chakma and Tripuri Refugees from Taidong
On August 3 2013, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers wielding sharp knives and machetes began to attack indigenous Buddhist and Hindu people in Taindong of Matiranga, claiming that indigenous miscreants had kidnapped a Muslim settler named Kamal Hossain. At least 50 indigenous people were wounded and 3 were killed. More than 1,500 indigenous men, women and children fled to the India-Bangladesh border. Indigenous Chakma and Tripuri refugees in temporary refugee camps set up by BSF (Border Security Force of India) in Indo-Bangladesh border.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Rangamati

On 20 July 1988, Bangladesh army of 30 EBR from the army camp at Kuduk Chari led by Capt. Atiqur Rahman arrested 2 indigenous persons and then took them to the army camp. Bangladesh army severely tortured 2 indigenous persons at the army camp. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Dhamakka Chakma (29), son of Mr. Saradhan Chakma of Sukar Chari Khamar Para, Rangamati. He was arrested from his home at 09:00 hrs.
  2. Mr. Tarani Chakma (55), son of Mr. Sundaraka Chakma of Manik Chari Madhya Adam, Rangamati.
