Indigenous victims of Naniachar attack

When whole country was celebrating the victory day of the country on 16 Dec 2014, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous people in Bagachari area of Naniarchar to evict them from their traditional land. 50 indigenous houses, 7 shops and 1 Buddhist temple were destroyed.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Khagrachari

On 28 June 1988, Field Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Bangladesh army arrested 2 indigenous people at Khagrachari Bazar.

The victims were arrested by FIU men when an informer and Muslim settler named Saber pointed at them. Immediately after arrest FIU took the innocent victims to FIU Centre where they were blind-folded, hands and legs were tied and subjected to inhuman physical torture. FIU interrogated and tortured them for 2 days without any food. Later FIU transferred them to Bangladesh army custody. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Bimal Kanti Chakma (27), son of Mr. Kamala Kanta Chakma of Harinath Para, Khagrachari.
  2. Master Dhana Chakma (13), son of Mr. Manajay Chakma, address as above.
