On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous people in Longadu

On 26 March 1988, Bangladesh army of 14th EBR from Mainee Mukh Army Camp led by Lt. Col. Abdul Khaleque in a conspiracy with Abdur Rashid Sarkar (a Muslim settler and illegally elected chairman of Longadu) arrested some indigenous people at Mainee Mukh Bazar in Longadu, Rangamati district.

Bangladesh army subjected the victims to inhuman torture immediately after the arrest. They were taken to the army camp where they were kept in detention. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Ujjal Kanti Chakma (30), son of Mr. Bimal Kanti Chakma of Bamer Atarak Chara Baishnab Headman Para, Longadu.
  2. Mr. Guna Shankar Chakma (20), son of Mr. Muratya Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Ranjit Chakma (21), son of Mr. Agyata Chakma of Dighal Chari, Barkal.
  4. Mr. Sukriti Chakma (26), son of Mr. Kalamua Chakma, address as above.
