On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked 5 indigenous Buddhist villages in Ramgarh and 2 indigenous villages in Manikchari in Chittagong Hill Tracts. In this attack around 200 indigenous houses including 2 Buddhist temples were torched. At least 20 indigenous people were injured and at least half dozen indigenous people were missing. Muslim settlers attacked this indigenous Buddhist girl with machete.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari

On 31 Dec. 1986, Bangladesh army of 19 EBR from Logang Camp and the BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) led by Subedar (non-commissioned officer) Didarul from the army and Naib Subedar Sattar from the BDR carried out military a operation against the indigenous Buddhist village Hetmora of Logang in Panchari, Khagrachari district. During the operation, Bangladesh army and BDR arrested and beat indigenous Buddhist inhabitants. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Bor Shira Chakma (24 yrs), son of Mr. Dhong Chakma of Hetmora, Panchari. He was severely beaten by the Bangladesh army and the BDR personnel. He was taken to the army camp where he is being detained. His wife Mrs. Tugtugi Chakma with her only minor son was compelled to take refuge in Tripura State of India as a refugee due to atrocities committed on the indigenous Buddhist people by Bangladesh armed forces. She is presently sheltered at Takumbari Refugee Camp in Tripura, India.
  2. Mr. Kina Chan Chakma (85 yrs) of Hetmora, Panchari. This octogenarian even could not escape from the barbarity of the Bangladesh army personnel. He was kicked and beaten inhumanly, The perpetrators left him in senseless condition.
  3. Mr. Komol Krishna Chakma (26 yrs), son of Mr. Monu Dhon Chakma, address as above. He was beaten and tortured inhumanly by the army personnel.
