On 4 December 2007 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settler raped indiegnous Buddhist girl Miss Ruikrashu Marma (10) when she was going to school in Ramgarh of Khagrachari district. Indigenous women and girls in CHT are in constant threat of rape.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Panchari

On 25 December 1986, 20 Bangladesh army personnel of 19 EBR from the army camp at Sinala of Logang led by a Subedar (non-commissioned officer) arrested 5 indigenous Buddhist men and women in Panchari, Khagrachari district. They were going to Macchya Chara to fish. Bangladesh army stopped them on the way between Hetmori and Macchya Chara. Bangladesh army then separated the men and the women. The women were gang raped by the Subeder and his soldiers after which they were released. Bangladesh army took the arrested men to the army camp where they were subjected to further inhuman physical tortures after which they were released. The victims are:

1. Mr. Sukhomoy Chakma of Hetmora, Logang, Panchari. He is a member of Logang Union Parishad (Union Council). He was severely beaten and tortured by the army personnel.
2. Mr. Hengotya Chakma, son of Mr. Suro Mohan Chakma, address as above. He was severely beaten and tortured by the army personnel.
3. Mrs. Mohini Chakma (35 yrs), wife of Mr. Kumud Kumar Chakma, address as above. She was barbarously gang raped by the army personnel.
4. Miss. Sonabi Chakma (17 yrs), daughter of Mr. Kumud Kumar Chakma, address as above. She was barbarously gang raped by the army personnel.
5. Miss. Minoti Chakma (16 yrs), daughter of Mr. Sukhomoy Chakma, address as above. She was barbarously gang raped by the army personnel.
