On 3 August 2004, Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers killed 2 members of an indigenous Buddhist family in Dhandachara village of Bhushanchara in Barkal. At night at around 11 pm the Muslim settlers attacked Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma (33) and his family members with swords and spears. Mr. Barun Kumar Chakma died on the spot and his wife Ms. Subarna Chakma (28) and 11 months old son Kampan Chakma were seriously injured. Next day on 4 August Ms. Subarna died from her injuries. Kampan Chakma got serious injuries at his right leg.

Bangladesh army torture 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala

On 20 December 1986, Subedar Aziz Khan of Bangladesh army from the army camp at DP Para ordered 2 indigenous Chakma Buddhists to report at the camp in Dighinala, Khagrachari district.

Accordingly when they reported, Subedar Aziz Khan of Bangladesh army subjected them to inhuman physical tortures. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Ajit Kumar Tripura (40 yrs), son of Mr. Ram Ratan Tripura of Parboti Para, Dighinala. He is a teacher of the Primary School at Parboti Para.
  2. Mr. Aksha Chandra Chakma (42 yrs), son of Mr. Dighichan Chakma of Baghai Chari Mukh, Dighinala.
