Mahalchari Buddha
On 26 August 2003; Bangladesh army in league with Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people in Mahalchari. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers set fire on more than 370 indigenous Buddhist houses. An indigenous Chakma man and an indigenous Chakma infant (8 months) were killed. More than 1000 indigenous Buddhist people were rendered homeless. Lemucharipara Buddhist Temple and Babupara Buddhist Temple were burnt down. Lord Buddha's images were demolished. Bangladesh army and Muslim settlers raped 10 indigenous Chakma women.

On 18 December 1986, Subedar (non-commissioned officer) Kasim of Bangladesh army from the army camp at Babu Chara in Dighinala severely beat the following indigenous Chakma Buddhists:

  1. Mr. Suroth Kumar Chakma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Surendra Lal Chakma of Noonchari, Babu Chara, Dighinala.
  2. Mr. Udoyon Chakma (18 yrs), son of Mr. Ashok Chandra Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Satyamoni Chakma (25 yrs), son of Mr. Bizuram Chakma of Chowdhury Para, Babu Chara, Dighinala.
  4. Mr. Surothia Chakma (45 yrs), son of Mr. Surendra Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Tung Moni Chakma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Arjun Moni Chakma, address as above.
  6. Mr. Prabhat Moni Chakma (30 yrs), son of Mr. Sadhonya Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mr. Madhu Chandra Chakma (18 yrs), son of Mr. Shanti Kumar Chakma, address as above.
  8. Mr. Bokul Chakma (50 yrs), son of late Devalya Chakma of Babu Chara, Dighinala.
  9. Mr. Amiyo Kanti Chakma (28 yrs), son of Mr. Trilochan Chakma, address as above.
  10. Mr. Appollo Chakma (29 yrs), of Tulaban, Baghaichari.
  11. Mr. Bipuleshwar Chakma (35 yrs), son of Mr. Purna Kumar Chakma of Udol Bagan, Digninala. He is a teacher of Babu Chara High School.
  12. Mr. Pradyut Kanti Chakma (34 yrs), son of Mr. Kina Mohan Chakma, address as above.
