Indigenous victims of Sajek Muslim attack

On 20 April 2008 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked and burnt down 76 indigenous Buddhist houses in Sajek. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhist villagers and grab their land. The indigenous Chakma Buddhists and their burnt down houses after the attack.


Bangladesh army tortures an indigenous Chakma Buddhist in Matiranga

On 9 December 1986, Bangladesh army of 36 EBR from the army camp at Guimara launched a military operation against an indigenous Buddhist village Pilak Mu Para in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. During the operation Bangladesh army set fire on the house of an indigenous Chakma Buddhist.

The victim is identified as Mr. Bhagya Mohan Chakma (18 yrs), son of late Kali Kumar Chakma of Pilak Mu Para, Matiranga. His properties worth Taka 15,000.00 (Fifteen thousand taka) were destroyed when the army personnel set fire on his house. He was arrested by the army personnel on 23 Dec. 1986 at Guimara Bazar. Since then he is being detained at the army camp at Guimara.
