On 25 December 1986 at 6:00 a.m Bangladeshi army personnel from the Dighinala cantonment rounded up Mr. Baribindu Chakma (38) son of Mr. Jatindra Lal Chakma of Sadhok Chara, Dighinala. Bangladesh army tied his hands and then severely beat him. Bangladesh army men laid him on the ground and kicked him like a football. They hammered his fingers. He was released after 8 and 1/2 hours of torture. He took refuge in Tripura state of India.

Bangladesh army torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Baghaichari

On 17 Nov. 1986, Bangladesh army of 41 EBR from the army camp at Karengatoli led by Major Abdul Bari launched a military operation against the indigenous Chakma Buddhists of Tulaban in Baghaichari, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army inhumanly beat 3 indigenous Buddhist persons. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Shyamol Chakma (18), son of Mr. Bari Bindu Chakma of Tulaban, Baghaichari. Bangladesh army accused him on a false charge of being a member of the Shanti Bahini and subjected him to severe beating.
  2. Master Bimal Chakma (13), son of Mr. Bari Bindu Chakma of Tulaban, Baghaichari.
  3. Mr. Jnana Dorshi Chakma (17), son of Mr. Hemonta Bikash Chakma, addrss as above.
