On 17 February 2011; Border Guards of Bangladesh and Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Longadu leaving at least 2 indigenous people seriously injured. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land.

Bangladesh army terrorize indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Longadu

On 13 Nov. 1986, Bangladesh army of 26 EBR led by Major Haleem and Bangladesh army of 42 EBR led by Capt. Bahar jointly launched a military operation against the indigenous Buddhist people of Bor Adam (of Kattoli Mouza) in Longadu, Rangamati district. During the operation, Bangladesh army arrested, serverely beat many indigenous people and set their homes on fire. Bangladesh army took many indigenous people to the army camp at Berabunya and kept them in pits. Bangladesh army released them after extorting Taka 6000(six thousand taka) from them. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Subodh Bikash Chakma (28), son of Mr. Natun Lal Chakma of Bor Adam of Kattoli Mouza, Longadu.
  2. Mr. Niranjan Chakma (30), son of Mr. Laxmi Kumar Chakma, address as above.
  3. Mr. Suddho Dhon Chakma (38), son of Mr. Raj Chandra Chakma, address as above.
  4. Mr. Mihir Kanti Chakma (28), son of Mr. Suren Mohan Chakma, address as above.
  5. Mr. Japan Chandra Chakma (47), son of Mr. Satyaban Karbari, address as above.
  6. Mr. Krishna Kumar Chakma (22), son of Mr. Chandra Chakma, address as above.
  7. Mr. Prodeep Kumar Chakma (16), son of Mr. Manik Chakma, address as above.
  8. Mr. Ogolokya Chakma (35), son of Mr. Linno Chakma, address as above.
  9. Mr. Virog Mohan Chakma (34), son of Mr. Surodhon Chakma, address as above.
  10. Mr. Mohesh Chandra Chakma (48), son of Mr. Dotpuna Chakma, address as above.
  11. Mr. Sigon Morot Chakma (28), son of Mr. Badi Chakma, address as above.
  12. Mr. Banya Khula Chakma (42), address as above.
  13. Mr. Kalabua Chakma, son of Mr. Jap Chandra Chakma, address as above. The army personnel robbed Taka 320.00 (three hundred and twenty taka) from him.
  14. Mr. Sadhon Muni Chakma, son of Hemabando Chakma, address as above. The army personnel robbed 18 and 1/2 quintals of paddy from his house and the rest were burnt to ashes along with the house which was set on fire.
