On 22 September 2012 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked indigenous Buddhist people in Rangamati. When the indigenous people counter attacked in self defence Bangladesh army took side with the Muslim settlers. 76 indigenous people were injured and numerous indigenous properties were destroyed.

The settlers are attacking South Kalindipur area on 22nd September.


Bangladesh army torture indigenous Marma Buddhists in Matiranga

On 4 Nov. 1986, 6 Bangladesh army personnel of 32 EBR from Guimara Army Camp led by Lt. Iqbal and Lt. Enamul Huq arrested 4 indigenous Buddhists at Guimara in Matiranga, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army severely beat indigenous men and took the victims to the army camp where they were further interrogated and tortured. The victims are:

  1. Mr. Sneha Kumar Chakma (45), son of Mr. Chain Prue Chakma of Kumojjya Karbari Para, Ramgarh.
  2. Mr. Kongjury Chowdhury (29), son of Mr. Maung Hla Prue Chowdhury of Bor Tholi, Guimara, Matiranga.
  3. Mr. Aung Shwe Prue Marma (30), son of Mr. Maung Kyo Thu Marma of DP Para, Guimara, Matiranga.
  4. Mr. Thuai Aungyo Marma (42), son of Mr. Maung Hla Marma of Bor Pilak, Ramgarh.

On 5 Nov. 1986, 5 Bangladesh army personnel of 32 EBR from the Guimara Army Camp led by Major Rafiqul Islam arrested the following indigenous Marma Buddhist from his house at Shingali Para, in Ramgarh, Khagrachari district:

  1. Mr. Kong Jyo Hree Chowdhury (28), son of Maung Sazai Chowdhury of Shingali Para (Bor Pilak Mouza), Ramgarh. Bangladesh army arrested him and took him to the army camp where he was interrogated and tortured.
