On 19-20 February 2010; Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous people at Baghaichari leaving an indigenous man dead. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Chakma Buddhists and grab their land. The indigenous Buddhist man gunned down by the Bangladesh army.

Bangladesh army murder and torture indigenous Chakma Buddhists in Dighinala

From 28 to 31 Oct. 1986, about 200 Bangladesh army soldiers of 41 EBR carried out military operations in Lamba Chara, Ponchari and Hazachara Boradam in Dighinala, Khagrachari district. During the operations, many indigenous people were beaten and tortured. 1 indigenous person was beaten to death.

Master Shantimoy Chakma (15), son of Mr. Nalini Chakma of Baghaichari. He and his brother-in-law came to visit their relations at Haza Chara Bor Adam. Bangladesh army arrested them on 30 Oct. 1986. Bangladesh army took them to army camp at Ponchari and then to Marishya. Bangladesh army subjected them to inhumane physical tortures due to which Shantimoy Chakma succumbed to death.

At Ponchari, Bangladesh army ordered the indigenous people to report at the local forest office. When the indigenous people reported at the forest office, Bangladesh army abused them in filthy Bengali language. The soldiers forced the indigenous people look at the scorching sun for hours.
