On 17 April 2011 Bangladesh army backed Muslim settlers attacked the indigenous Buddhist people at Ramgarh leaving at least 2 indigenous people dead and scores injured and missing. The aim of the attack was to drive out the indigenous Buddhists and grab their land. Indigenous Buddhist girl Mithu Marma (13) was seriously injured in the attack.

Bangladesh army rape and torture indigenous Buddhist family in Mohalchari

On 4 March 1986, Bangladesh Army of 13 East Bengal Regiment from Dumoni Ghat army camp led by Major Sharifuddin raided the home of Dujyoti Chakma of Kerengyanal in Mohalchari, Khagrachari district. Bangladesh army committed atrocities against the indigenous Buddhist family for its sympathy for the Jana Samhati Samiti. The victims are:

  1. Dujyoti Chakma (48), son of late Punya Sen Chakma of Kerengyanal, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army severely beat him.
  2. Mrs. Renuka Chakma (40), wife of Dujyoti Chakma of Kerengyanal, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army raped her.
  3. Miss. Sushoma Rani Chakma (17), daughter of Dujyoti Chakma of Kerengyanal , Mohalchari. Bangladesh army raped her infront of her parents.
  4. Krishna Bikash Chakma (21), son of Dujyoti Chakma of Kerengaynal, Mohalchari. Bangladesh army hung him upside down and beat him with wooden block till he became senseless.
